Five Senses Grounding Exercise

Struggling with anxiety? Feeling overwhelmed? Having panic attacks? You’re not alone.

One of the most common grounding techniques is the 5 senses method. In this exercise, you’ll identify sights, sounds, smells, tastes and physical touch to put you in awareness of your surroundings and help you feel more connected to the present moment. Follow along with the picture above, saying each discovery out loud for yourself with each sense you accomplish.

By the time you have followed through, you should be mindfully in the present moment and distant from the anxious thoughts.

Have you tried this method? Let me know how it has helped you!
